Depending on the medical aid option you select, you will potentially have co-payments, sub-limits, cancer treatment shortfalls and even exclusions. This is where gap cover comes in by filling these "gaps" in your medical scheme offering. Gap cover works by covering the difference or shortfall between what your medical provider charges and what your medical aid pays from your hospital benefit.
We have put together a video on this webpage explaining gap cover. We also provide plan overviews, options and forms for the gap providers with whom we have a partnership. It is strongly recommended that you familiarise yourself with the limitations on your medical aid as well as the benefits of gap cover.
Please note the benefits and values mentioned in the video are provider and plan dependent. Not all gap plans offer the same benefits and cover amounts, so it is important to familiarise yourself with your specific plan, or seek advice for the plan best suited for you.
